Bachelor Thesis: A Context-aware Mobile App to Compute Location- and Air Pollution-based Emission Compensations for Car Rides
Title:
A Context-aware Mobile App to Compute Location- and Air Pollution-based Emission Compensations for Car Rides
Description:
Driving a car produces emissions that can cause serious health issues and accelerates climate change. In this bachelor thesis, a location-aware mobile app is introduced, which enables the user to compensate for their emissions from car rides depending on the location and the current air pollution. In addition to reducing emissions, it is also necessary to compensate emissions today to ensure a better future. A major problem in this context is the exact determination of emissions. The approach described in this thesis estimates the emissions directly while driving based on location data. Additionally, this approach takes into account the air quality in the areas the user drives through. The combination of these two principles leads to a fairer and more precise estimation of emissions than the existing ones.
