Master Thesis: Design and Development of a Decentralized Digital Content Delivery and Compensation Protocol
Design and Development of a Decentralized Digital Content Delivery
and Compensation Protocol
Current centralized e-commerce platforms and digital marketplaces have lock-in effects on both consumers and creators of digital content. Centralized platforms offer a variety of different values, but as a result consumers and creators of digital content remain locked-in within the services of centralized marketplaces.
In this thesis we have proposed to decentralize the value propositions and distribute them among different actors. Therefore, we proposed decentralized digital content delivery and compensation protocol for decentralized e-commerce workflows, based on smart contracts and blockchain technology.
Designed protocol splits the business logic of purchasing digital content between different roles, resulting in an alternative to the current centralized marketplaces without lock-in effects.
A blockchain-based architecture with cryptographic tokens representing a license to the content, allows merchants to create a decentralized easily auditable marketplace, where compensations of all involved parties are executed automatically in a smart contract through the transfer of cryptocurrency. Thus, designed protocol gives content creators the possibility to freely adjust their collaboration partners without any lock-in effects.
