Master Thesis: A Modelar Mobile Application for Decentralized Mobiliy Services
Title:
A Modelar Mobile Application for Decentralized Mobiliy Services
Description:
In recent years, as the urban population and thus the availability of mobility services has in- creased, shared and public modes of transportation have become increasingly convenient and efficient. The digital age has opened up new opportunities to improve the customer experience in using public transport. One of these opportunities lies in the concept of Mobility as a Service (MaaS), which signals a shift from traditional ownership-based transport solutions to flexi- ble and shared access-based solutions, supported by modern information and communication technology.
This thesis presents BeamMe, a concept for a mobile application for modular decentralized mobility services, bringing together different stakeholders in one unified platform by offering a highly adaptable and scalable solution for the integration of diverse transport operators and services. This lowers barriers to entry and supports a cooperative MaaS ecosystem. Customers also benefit from this single point of entry to the MaaS market by gaining access to a wide variety of transportation services without the need for multiple provider-specific applications.
To evaluate the presented concept, a prototype is implemented and subjected to a usability study. Results support the promise of the concept, but highlight fundamental challenges that must be solved for it to become truly feasible.
