Design and Development of a Framework for Voice Controlled Devices

Description:

In this thesis a completely offline working framework for voice controlled IoT devices in the context of home automation is designed and developed. The framework runs on a Raspberry Pi and an Arduino board. It uses Home Assistant for maintaining a home automation network and the MOVI shield is used for speech recognition and language understanding. For the MOVI shield being programmed with static command like sentences only, additionally an Arduino library is designed and developed, to allow more dynamic sentences. The effectiveness and the usability of the framework are evaluated and it is shown that the implemented library improves maintainability, can store more sentences, and works faster in training and matching.
