Extending a Context-aware Service with Geofencing Capabilities

Description:

In this thesis, we try to embed a proactive location-based service into a context-aware system that allows modeling contextual dependencies involving various sensor types. Due to a missing sensor for location-awareness that would allow to include location as part of the context, an effort is made to adjust the former service in a way, that any (Android) mobile device can simply be used as such a geofencing sensor, that is fast and easy to deploy. In the course of this an emphasis is made on keeping the service applicable to other applications and even enhancing this trait by generalizing needed changes, meaning that both services only have to be coupled loosely. The proposed solution is evaluated by an end-to-end functional test, which can also be visualized by introducing additional interfaces for monitoring occurring events.
