Bachelor Thesis: Implementation of a Virtual Reality Interface for Geofencing
Title:
Implementation of a Virtual Reality Interface for Geofencing
Description:
In this thesis a Virtual Reality (VR) interface to examine, edit, and create geofences was im- plemented. The interface uses OpenStreetMap data visualized in Epic Game’s Unreal Engine 4 to create a virtual representation of the world. Users are equipped with a head mounted display (HMD) and movement tracking controllers to achieve high levels of immersion. As a result, three-dimensional relationships are easy to grasp and to understand. Design decisions were guided by the concept of transferring real world behavior into VR, which makes it easy for novice users to adapt to the interface. Tests with non-representative groups showed that good results can be achieved in a short amount of time, both from users with and without prior VR experience.
