Dipl.-Inform. Sebastian Zickau
In 2002, I finished my diploma thesis during a project at the IT-Service-Center of the Technische Universität Berlin where I worked as a student research assistant. The main focus of the thesis was on e-mail and smartcard security. After I received my diploma, I continued to work at the tubIT Service Center in Berlin as a research assistant. During this time, I contributed to several security, policy, and access control projects, such as TUBIT and OBAN. In 2008, I started to work as a research assistant at the University of Reading in England for nearly three years. I joined the EU-funded Hydra Middleware project (now LinkSmart middleware) in the School of Systems Engineering. My main focus was on security/policy aspects and context-awareness functionalities during the realization of the Hydra software along with work on project demonstrators and general research.
In March 2012, I joined the Telekom Innovation Laboratories in Berlin. As a research scientist in Prof. Dr. Axel Küpper's chair Service-centric Networking, I contribute to the projects TRESOR, Curcuma, PARADISE, IdentityChain, and DIMS.My main research areas are on location-based services, applied security, privacy-enhancing technologies, access control policies, self-sovereign identity, and distributed ledger technologies.

Zusammenfassung | Targeted advertising is an inherent part of the modern Web as we know it. For this purpose, personal data is collected at large scale to optimize and personalize displayed advertisements to increase the probability that we click them. Anonymity and privacy are also important aspects of the World Wide Web since its beginning. Activists and developers relentlessly release tools that promise to protect us from Web tracking. Besides extensive blacklists to block Web trackers, researchers used machine learning techniques in the past years to automatically detect Web trackers. However, for this purpose often artificial data is used, which lacks in quality. |
