Overview

The DISCO project intends to enhance interoperability between distributed ledgers without introducing intermediaries or economic assumptions. Currently, Smart Contracts are tightly coupled to their host Blockchain and inherit respective properties such as throughput, access model and system security. The project’s target is to loosen this strong dependency by enabling Smart Contract migrations between different Blockchain networks. Interconnected Smart Contracts may be distributed across multiple Blockchain networks due to varying technical or organisational requirements. The platform-independent operation of Smart Contracts is facilitated for the development process as well as on an operational level by providing verifiable information exchange between distinct Blockchain networks.
