The goal of the EIT project Crypto Sentiment Advisor is to develop a real time sentiment analysis platform for the top 20 cryptocurrencies, so that investors can gain better insight into the current community mood. The sentiment is sourced from public online social communities such as Twitter and Reddit, where many users share their thoughts on current developments. In terms of technology, the solution leverages state of the art streaming architectures such as Apache Kafka, and recent methods including lexicon-based analysis like Vader and deep learning approaches such as word embeddings.
