SNET Project Proposal "FlashPoll" is accepted at EIT-ICT 2013 Call of Activities

SNET has collaborated along with its partners on a project proposal for the EIT-ICT 2013 call of activities. We are pleased to announce that the project has been nominated for execution in the EIT-ICT Business Plan 2013. Congratulations to Mohamed Salem, Abdulbaki Uzun, and Ulrich Bareth!

EIT-ICT Labs is an Innovation Factory for ICT Innovation in Europe, with 13 innovation action lines acting as their production lines. They address key societal issues in a number of selected areas for which ICT can bring forward significant improvements. EIT-ICT action lines include Computing in the Cloud, Cyber-Physical Systems, Digital Cities of the Future, Networking Solutions for Future Media, Health and Wellbeing, ICT-mediated Human Activity, Intelligent Mobility and Transportation Systems, Internet Technologies and Architecture, Smart Energy Systems, Smart Spaces, Privacy Security and Trust in Information Society, as well as Doctoral and Master School.

The strategic Business Plan of EIT-ICT Labs is to become a leading force in ICT innovation in Europe through integrating and reorganizing the knowledge triangle of education, research, and business (ERB). The Business Plan 2013 of EIT-ICT Labs is composed of activities belonging to Action Lines integrating ERB, as well as activities developing and maintaining specific ERB catalysts and offering their services to action lines.

Within the scope of the action line Digital Cities of the Future and in the area of Urban Planning, our aim is to develop a tool, FlashPoll, that allows for better, more satisfying and more consistent communication between administrators and citizens by implementing flash polls through an internet platform, which also facilitates the involvement of (citizen) experts in municipal decision making processes. This project enables the realization of a citizen-centric city paradigm – allowing governments and municipalities to introduce new policies and enhancing the participation of citizens in the information, decision, and implementation processes for a better life in the city within democratic governance.

FlashPoll is a joint project consisting of the following partners: TU Berlin (Service-centric Networking, Quality and Usability Lab, Zentrum Technik und Gesellschaft), Telekom Innovation Laboratories, KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm University, Alfstore and Missions Publiques
